This article is an update regarding the Services offered by Employee Resource Systems (ERS).  As you are aware, in regard to the Member Assistance Program (MAP) concerning signatory electricians, the Electrical Insurance Trustees (EIT) has changed from Cigna to Employee Resource Systems (ERS).  Also, ERS’s services are also made available to all signatory contractors and their employees who are active in the EIT Participatory Insurance plan.  Founded in 1993 by Gary Cohen, LCSW, CEAP and Bill Heffernan, MS, CEAP, Employee Resource Systems, Inc. (ERS) is a national provider of integrated Employee/Member Assistance Programs (EAP/MAP), managed mental health care, comprehensive training and consultation services, work/life services and drug-free workplace policy development.  Based in Chicago, ERS provides services to client companies ranging in size from 10 to 25,000 employees. Our client companies are engaged in health care, insurance, real estate, legal services, financial services, municipal government, manufacturing, transportation, construction and labor unions.

The concept of an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) or Member Assistance Program (MAP) originated back in the 1940's, as a result of the 12-step movement known as Alcoholics Anonymous. Group members took the philosophy of a support network with them into their workplaces and began to help co-workers become drug-free and sober. Over time, problems such as low morale, high turnover, and chronic absenteeism were significantly reduced and the concept of an Employee Assistance Program was born.

Today EAP/MAP's deal with so much more than just alcohol or substance abuse. They regularly intervene with all kinds of emotional disorders and interpersonal conflicts as well as being able to provide therapeutic Resources and recommendations.  Please contact ERS if you have questions regarding their services at:  (800) 292-2780.  The ERS website is:  www.ers-eap.com
