Dear Industry Associate,

Please review this month's LiveWire newsletter. We hope you enjoy the local and national industry updates.

Welcome Mark Thomas

As the casual days of summer come to a close and the calendar turns to September, we seemingly become more engaged with work and all things that matter to usso now is the perfect time catch up on all things ECA.

Since our spring conference in Lake Geneva, time has flown by yet so much has happened at ECA. Our new office will be completed by the time this goes to print, but most notably, ECA has a newExecutive Vice President in place and at the ready to support our entire membership and industry. Many of the members have had an opportunity to meet Mark Thomas through National NECA and a great many of our members got to meet Mark at the Spring Conference andatvarious committeemeeting's during the summer. I myself met Mark through theexecutivesearchprocess which started back in January. Through multiple interviews and phone calls with our search committee,I had the distinct pleasure and honor of getting to know Mark quite quickly.

I thought it would be appropriate to share with you how impressed I have been with Mark's transition into the new position as well as a few things about him you might notlearn since he is a humble man.First, you should know Mark is a lifelong Wisconsinite and Packer fan (I know), he grew up in the small town of Mineral Point, WI and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse. Mark and his wife Kelly Gundlach have 2 children and 4 grand kids who also reside in Wisconsin.

For 13 years Mark served our country in the U.S. Navy and resigned from reserved dutyin 2001as a Lieutenant Commander performing the job of Supply Corp Officer. After a career in the distribution and warehouse logistics industry he found his way to NECA, starting out as an Assistant Manager of the Wisconsin Chapter and went on to become the Executive Director. With what one might consider a passion to drive a lot, Mark became the Midwest region Field Representativeand after12yearsin that position he has found himself at ECA Chicago. Mark's experienceand wisdom fromworking withNECAchapters in 8 states along with his leadership in developing and teaching NECA labor relations makes him the right guy at the right time for our association.

Since his arrival to Chicago mid-July, Mark has been extremely busy immersing himself in the position andthevarious boards/trusts he will sit on. He has been proactive on several fronts including initiatives with other NECA chapters and various industry associationsECA works with. I want to reassure the membership that Mark's experience, drive and passion for our industry will be a great benefit to the future success of our association.

I would like to encourage each and every member to reach out to Mark and carve out some time for coffee or lunch so you can get to know him and also share with him any ideas or concerns you have for our chapter and Industry.
