ECA Congratulates Executive Committee Member

 

The Electrical Contractors' Association of City of Chicago (ECA) wishes to acknowledge William Darnstadt, Lyons Electric Company, Inc. for his many years of service on the ECA Executive Committee. Bill had been on the Committee since 2006 and has assisted in numerous other Association activities, programs, committees throughout the years. We thank Bill for his efforts. He received a special Gavel Plaque award during the December 6th ECA Executive Committee meeting, as this was his final session as an Executive Committee member. The plaque was inscribed as follows: "Presented to William Darnstadt in recognition of distinguished service rendered to the Electrical Contractors' Association of City of Chicago as a member of the Association's Executive Committee from 2006 - 2017." Bill, thank you for your continued service!

ECA January Membership Meeting

 

The Electric Association (EA) Annual Conference & Trade Show will be held January 25 - 26, 2018 at the Drury Lane Theater. The ECA January Membership Meeting will be held in conjunction with this event on Thursday, January 25, 2018.

NECA Updates

 

NECA Legislative Conference

 

The NECA Legislative Conference is being arranged for late-Spring 2018 in Washington, D.C. The ECA Executive Committee has approved an educational stipend for this event. Accommodations and travel expenses are to be paid for the first five ECA members; it is possible that additional stipends may be made available at a later date for the NECA Legislative Conference. More information to follow, soon.

 

NECA 2018 Midwest Regional Conference

 

The NECA Midwest Regional Conference is to be held April 8 - 11, 2018 at the Omni Amelia Island Plantation Resort in Amelia Island Plantation, Florida. The ECA Executive Committee has approved a scholarship stipend for this event. Registration for the Conference (ECA member and spouse / guest) will be paid for up to two ECA member representatives from each ECA participating firm; the Registration fee will be paid to the participating firm(s) after the Conference.

The Electrical Contractors' Association of City of Chicago (ECA) Executive Committee recently approved the membership renewals to the Illinois Green Alliance (formerly, the US Green Building Council (USGBC) - Illinois) and the Illinois Solar Energy Association (ISEA). These memberships are available for up to two representatives of ECA member firms at no additional cost. We hope that you will take advantage of these membership benefit opportunities.

Industry Scholarships

 

Electric Association

The Electric Association Education Foundation is pleased to open the application period for the following six academic scholarships:

Electric Association Scholarship ($2500)

The Kinander Family Scholarship ($2500)

The Steiner Kerman Education Foundation Scholarship ($2500)

The Joseph J. Archibald Jr. Memorial Scholarship ($2500)

The Anixter Family Scholarships (2 @ $2500)

Electric Association members and theirlineal descendants are eligible to apply. Please carefully review the scholarship criteria for complete details, deadlines, and a check list of items to be included in each application. The application deadline is Monday, January 29, 2018. Award winners will be formally announced and recognized at the Electrical Industry Dinner Dance and Auction Benefit on February 10th, 2018 at the Westin Hotel, Itasca. CISCO

The Construction Industry Service Corporation(CISCO)is now accepting applications for its 2018 Scholarship Program. The three different program categories enable a wider range of students of both building trade union members and union contractor employees to apply.

 

CISCO now offers (3), four-year scholarships ($2,000/year) to high school seniors; (2), two-year awards ($1,000/year) for seniors planning to attend community college; and (2), two-year continuing education awards ($1,000/year) to union members or contractor employees.

 

All applications and accompanying documents must be postmarked by February 23, 2018 to be eligible for consideration. Winners will be notified in mid-March and awards will be presented at CISCO's Annual Luncheon in April, 2018. For judging criteria, application information, and eligibility requirements, please refer to the application forms.

LMCC - EISP

Applications for the 2018 Electrical Industry Scholarships are now available. A total of two scholarships will be awarded in the amount of $5,000 per year for up to four years for the individual's undergraduate degree.

 

To be eligible, applicants must be children of Local Union #134 members who are in good standing and working under the Principal Agreement, Communication Agreement or Residential Agreement. Children of deceased members may also be eligible to apply. Applicants must be high school seniors who will graduate in May or June 2018, or high school graduates who are registered in a college or university field of study directly related to the electrical industry. An independent Selection Committee comprised of members of academia will make the award selections.

Upon verification of your eligibility, the EISP Administrator will forward an EISP application form to you.

 

Applications and all other required documents must be postmarked by MARCH 1, 2018 to be considered for the 2018 Electrical Industry Scholarships.
