Controlling Silica Hazards in Construction

Crystalline silica is a common mineral found in construction materials, including brick, stone, rock, concrete, and mortar.  Workers may be exposed to harmful silica dust when these materials are cut, drilled, and crushed.  A new OSHA standard has been implemented with a dual purpose to lower the silica exposure levels for employees, and to impose new requirements on employers.  This four-hour training session will educate workers about protecting themselves from this jobsite hazard.  The program also focuses on the controls, practices, and equipment necessary to ensure OSHA compliance and provide a healthy work environment.  Breathe easy and join this discussion about keeping everyone safe.

Silica Program Facilitator – Paul Satti, Construction Safety Council

The seminar is being conducted by Mr. Paul Satti, Technical Director of Projects and Research, Construction Safety Council (CSC).  Paul has over 20 years of experience applying safety and health management systems.

Mr. O’Connor is President of INTEC. He has 33 years of safety and health experience with 29 years serving electrical trade associations and their members including the National Electrical Contractors Associations (NECA), America Public Power Association (APPA) and Edison Electric Institute (EEI).
