February 2018 ECA Membership Meeting

The Electrical Contractors’ Association of City of Chicago (ECA) held its February Membership meeting on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at the Maggiano’s Banquets in Oak Brook, Illinois.  The event had a number of special guests, including the following:  David Long, NECA President, Miller Electric Company, Wes Anderson, NECA District IV Vice President, Anderson Electric, Inc.,  Steve Krieg, NECA Midwest Region Director, David Ward, NECA Midwest Field Representative.  Mr. Krieg and Mr. Anderson gave a brief update regarding activities in the Midwest Region, as well as encouraging all to attend the upcoming NECA Midwest Regional Conference to be held on April 8 – 11, 2018 at the Amelia Island Plantation Resort in Amelia Island, Florida.  NECA President David Long discussed the continuation of the NECA 2020 initiative and the 10 - 25 proposal.  Highlights of his discussion include the following:  Labor Relations and Educational Programming remain the top reasons / incentives that companies seek when they join NECA.  The NECA 2020 initiative remains active.  This will assist NECA in better understanding the demographics of the industry.  Learning the priorities of the membership is imperative, as NECA adapts to its current culture and embraces its future.  A revised Vision / Mission Statement emphasizes the new vision to empower lines of communication.  NECA will continue to expand its educational programming.  He also discussed the 10 – 25 proposal – increasing market share by 10% by the year 2025.  This innovative concept will be advanced through a number of variables, including the following:  growth of workforce, training and education, enhancement of labor relations, marketing / market analysis, innovations and technology.  He encouraged all to review their current operations and promote the positives of innovation at the workplace. We thank these gentlemen for their assistance in making the session such a success.
