The Electrical Contractors’ Association of City of Chicago (ECA) held its March Regular Membership Meeting at Gene & Georgetti’s in Rosemont, Illinois.  The program was highlighted by guest speaker, Mr. Don Finn, Local Union #134, IBEW.  Business Manager Finn commented on the continued partnership of the ECA and Local #134.  He wished for continued success in the industry.   Business Manager Finn gave a brief update of the historic Local #134, IBEW move to 2722 S. King Drive in Chicago.  He anticipated a Grand Opening during the Fall 2017.  He reported that Chicago Electric Code adjustments have been made and the recommended language is to be submitted for City Council review in June 2017. Business Manager Finn forecasted that after the new Code has been initiated, language could be finalized that would require an electrician to be licensed to do electrical work in the City of Chicago. Business Manager Finn announced that a Trainee Program seminar will be developed to explain the benefits of the program as adjustments have been made.  The seminar is to be arranged for April 13, 2017 at INTECH.   After a brief Q & A session regarding the Trainee Program, as well as the Apprenticeship Program, Business Manager Finn received a round of applause.  We thank Don for addressing the many contractors who were in attendance.
