January Membership Meeting


The Electrical Contractors' Association of City of Chicago (ECA) held its first Membership Meeting for 2018 during the Electric Association (EA) Annual Conference and Trade Show. The Membership Meeting was held on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at the Drury Lane Conference Center in Oak Brook, Illinois.



IIT - NECA Video Visits


NECA President David Long recently visited the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) Smart Tech Lab. He was interviewed for an upcoming video created by NECA highlighting activity in the Chicago area unique to the industry. NECA was also able to visit and video a number of local contractors who have incorporated Pre-construction / Pre-fab into their company operations.

Electric Golf 95th Annual Awards Dinner


The Electric Golf Association will hold its 95th Annual Electrical Industry Dinner Dance and Awards event on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at the Westin Chicago Northwest Hotel in Itasca, Illinois. The Electric Golf Club of Chicago was organized in 1923 by Joseph P. Simons, Sr. The Electric Golf Club's membership is open to everyone connected with the electrical industry. The purpose of the Electric Golf Club is to promote friendly and cooperative relations throughout the electrical industry. Any person working in or involved with the electrical industry is eligible to become a member of the Electric Golf Club.Mr. David Witz, NECA Governor, Continental Electrical Construction Company is to be the recipient of the J.P. Simons Award. We congratulate David on receiving this prestigious industry award!


CISCO Annual Meeting


The Construction Industry Service Corporation's (CISCO's) 2018 Annual Meeting will be held on Friday, February 9, 2018 at Maggiano's Banquets, 1901 Woodfield Road in Schaumburg, Illinois. The event will feature 2017 Pride in Construction Awards - Project of the Year Winners in 7 categories: New Construction / Chicago ($20m+), New Construction / Suburbs ($20m+), New Construction / Chicago or Suburbs (Under $20m), Infrastructure, Rehabilitation, Residential and a Special Mention Award. The Registration is Complimentary for CISCO members (all ECA members firms are members of CISCO). Registration information can be found at

IMSCA Lobby Day


The Illinois Mechanical and Specialty Contractors Association (IMSCA) will beholding its Annual Lobby Day on Tuesday, April 24, 2018. The ECA is an active member of this group. We hope that you will be able to join us as we visit legislators in the Illinois General Assembly to discuss issues that affect the electrical construction industry. NECA Updates


NECA Legislative Conference


The NECA Legislative Conference is being arranged for May 16 - 17, 2018 in Washington, D.C. We hope that you will be able to join us as we visit members of Congress to voice industry issues important to electrical contractors. The ECA Executive Committee has approved an educational stipend for this event. Accommodations and travel expenses are to be paid for the first five ECA members; it is possible that additional stipends may be made available at a later date for the NECA Legislative Conference.



NECA 2018 Midwest Regional Conference


The NECA Midwest Regional Conference is to be held April 8 - 11, 2018 at the Omni Amelia Island Plantation Resort in Amelia Island Plantation, Florida. The ECA Executive Committee has approved a scholarship stipend for this event. Registration for the Conference (ECA member and spouse / guest) will be paid for up to two ECA member representatives from each ECA participating firm; the Registration fee will be paid to the participating firm(s) after the Conference.




NECA 2018 Project Excellence Awards


NECA is accepting entries for the 2018 Project Excellence Awards (PEA) program. These awards recognize NECA member companies for their outstanding commitment, professionalism, and ingenuity in delivering an electrical project across 11 different market sectors. The Construction Safety Council (CSC) will be holding its "Construction Expo & Safety Conference on March 5 - 6, 2018 at the Drury Lane Conference Center in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois.



NECA Recognition of Safety Achievement Program


NECA's Safety Awards include two programs, the Safety Excellence Award, and the Zero-Injury Award. NECA's Recognition of Safety Achievement program is anelite safety recognition focused on recognizing thrivingcompanies that excel in multiple areas of their safety and health programs. Awards are given to member companies that consistently haveOSHA recordable injury and fatality rates at levels lower than the industry standard, and implement internal company safety practices above and beyond basic compliance. The Zero-Injury Award recognizes those member-companies that have worked a full calendar year without recordable incidents. The Safety Excellence Award is the associations premier recognition program, and acknowledges member-contractors safety performance. When registering contractors will automatically be entered into two Safety Awards Programs; Zero Injury and Safety Excellence.Winners are selected based on their comparison to BLS data and electrical contractors.
