NECA 2018 Convention Highlights!

The NECA Convention & Trade Show was held in historic Philadelphia on September 29 – October 2, 2018.   Philadelphia was home to the NECA Convention 50 years ago.  Nearly 50 individuals were registered from the Chicago & Cook County Chapter, NECA for this year’s Convention.  The Convention was host to many activities and celebrations, including the following:

·         Numerous technical / educational programs, an expansive Trade Show,

·         NECA Chief Executive Officer, John Grau received Honorary Lifetime Membership Recognition,

·         The 50th Anniversary of the Academy of Electrical Contracting – David Hardt, Chairman of the Academy of Electrical Contracting, Hardt Electric, Inc. addressed the Convention attendees.  Two area contractors were inducted into the Academy:  Kevin Connelly, Connelly Electric Company, Inc. and Thomas Morton, LLD Electric Company, Inc.,

·         Aldridge Electric, Inc. received the Transportation and Infrastructure NECA Project Excellence Award for their work on the new Washington Wabash CTA Elevated Train Station.
Doug Sandner, Aldridge Electric, Inc. accepted the award on behalf of Aldridge Electric, Inc.,

·         The NECA IIT Student Chapter won the “Student Chapter of the Year” Award for a second  time and received Third Place in the NECA Green Energy Challenge Finals!

·         The “Rocky” Fun Run,

·         A Prayer Breakfast at the Chapel of the Four Chaplains,

·         Informative, entertaining and moving General Sessions: 
-Keller Rinaudo, CEO of Zipline,
-Christopher Tarbell and Hector Monsegur gave a Cyber Security Presentation,
-Jon Dorenbos, NFL’s “Magic Man” gave a magical performance,

·         The celebrated rock band Foreigner filled up the Fillmore Philadelphia and

·         President Donald Trump addressed the Convention attendees!
