ECA May 2017 Membership Meeting

The Electrical Contractors’ Association of City of Chicago (ECA) held its May Membership Meeting on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Smith & Wollensky’s in Chicago.  The session was highlighted by industry updates, including the ECA Post Convention Trip scheduled for October 11 – 15, 2017 at the Half Moon Bay Resort in Half Moon Bay, California.

The membership also congratulated ECA member firm, Hartmann Electric Company, Inc. on celebrating 25 years with NECA.  William Hartmann was on hand to accept the plaque.  Congratulations, Bill!

The guest speaker for the meeting was Mr. Sean Madix, EIT Benefit Funds – Fund Administrator.  Mr. Madix briefly discussed a number of updates regarding the funds.  He commended the efforts of the EIT Trustees.  He reported that there are 13,000 participants in the funds with total coverage of 35,000.   Mr. Madix also reported that total assets were over $4 billion, Health and Welfare over $5 million, Pension over $1 ½ billion - overall 100% funded.  He announced that there were changes in the co-pays for the Prescription Drug Program and the Member Assistance Program will be administered by Employee Resource Systems (ERS).  Mr. Madix also reported that EIT was undergoing a system upgrade.  He reported that EIT continues to monitor bills on the federal level and their potential impact on the funds. He was met with a round of applause after a question and answer session.  We thank Sean for his time with the meeting.  The next Membership Meeting is open to ECA members, only at the ECA 46th Annual Spring Conference on June 21 – 22, 2017 at the Grand Geneva Resort in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.
